"The volunteer acts first. Here. Everywhere". It was with this name that the exhibition opened in the Chernihiv Historical Museum named after Tarnovsky. The event is timed to the International Volunteer Day. The authors of the exhibition presented a unique collection of objects, volunteer diaries and photographs that were taken during the blockade of the city of Chernihiv. Several installations on the theme of war were also presented at the exhibition. A significant part of them reminds of people who sometimes at the cost of their own lives helped their army to defend Chernihiv and saved ordinary people in the conditions of Russian aggression.
Among the guests of the exhibition were volunteers who cooperated with the project, friends and native heroes. as well as the President of the NGO "Antonov Aid Fund" Serhii Petrovych Antonov. It was his son Oleksii Antonov who helped evacuate the residents of the city of Chernihiv from the first days of the full-scale war. And on March 30, during the rescue of civilians, he died when a column of volunteers came under enemy fire.
International Volunteer Day has been celebrated on December 5 since 1985.
